The May 2026 issue of the Deutsches Handwerksblatt reports on handz.on’s AI assistant and shows how the chatbot concretely relieves skilled-trade businesses in the office and on the construction site. The article focuses on the practical photo-upload feature: customers upload a picture of a defective component, the assistant identifies it automatically, checks stock availability and directly suggests a repair appointment. Fitters on site benefit too – they can photograph a defective machine and be guided through the repair step by step by voice output.
Dr. Gerald Bauer, Director AI at handz.on, explains in the piece that the AI chatbot draws its knowledge exclusively from previously provided sources such as PDFs, links, FAQs and internal databases – which makes its answers particularly reliable and virtually resistant to hallucinations. The chatbot also supports businesses with quote preparation, answers fitters’ technical questions and automatically reminds customers of maintenance intervals and statutory inspections. For particularly security-critical use cases, the AI chatbot can also be operated entirely locally and offline on a compact workstation.
